Barry Odell Has Sadly Passed Away
27 September 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce that our friend, former staff member and Waterski supporter Barry Odell passed away on Wednesday 25th September aged 83 following a long illness.
Barry had a long history within the sport having been a long term member of Boughton Lodge WSC and also working for the Federation for over 20 years in the role of Development Officer before retiring in 2006. In his development role Barry was a great support to British clubs and had a passion for the Waterski discipline, acting as a technical committee member, team captain, team selection committee member and an international official. He was highly respected worldwide having judged at countless International and BWSW competitions over the years and was himself a competitor and keen senior competitor (35+) both within the UK and internationally.
He also had an involvement in supporting grassroots sport and acted as the Eastern Regional Chair and was a valuable member of many committees within BWSW such as Cable Technical, the Development Committee, Environment, also a former company Director as part of the BWSW Management Committee and in later years the Advisory Council. Barry was a huge source of in-depth knowledge of the sport, he was also great company and will be very much missed.
He leaves behind his partner Francoise Mougeot, condolences from everyone at BWSW …
