Weston Bay Watersports Club, based in Weston Super Mare, celebrated their 50th anniversary last year and are as strong now as they were when they started. . .

They have a great social calendar hosting their popular 'Slip In' and also 'Slip Out' parties to celebrate the start and end to the skiing season. Inbetween these dates, they host a casino night, the award presentation evening.

They always base events around having fun on and off the water. When the tide allows, a trip to Cardiff and back by boat and they can have as many as 15 boats go over for a stop off for a meal and walk around before heading back to Weston.

Two qualified waterski coaches are kept busy with SBD2 courses and also teaching many children and adults to ski, in turn to progress and improve. Many of the children have even gone on to compete in club, regional and national races.

Garin Cope, one of the club's volunteer instructors, hire a lake in the Cotswolds for a couple of days, 3-4 times throughout the year where members can go to play on the water and camp overnight. The large fire pit is always most welcome especially during the April weekends!

The club have some fun water based events, such as fancy dress, twin skier and even relay 'races'. No race skis or wraps are allowed to make sure noone is at an advantage. It is so funny to watch and join in with.

They have a strong presence in racing and this year, are incredibly proud of the team's achievements. Not only have individual skiers achieved personal bests and got some great results but they are delighted that they have won not only the youth team trophy but the overall team trophy. The first time this has happened for many years.

They have a lot to celebrate this year and will be looking forward to the new season.
