Head Coach

Head Coach

A Head Coach is the principal coach at a club and will work with the same participants regularly to develop them as athletes. The Head Coach will have advanced technical knowledge and strong delivery skills. Their role will also include implementing a coaching structure within the club, assisting other coaches and helping to mentor new and upcoming coaches. Someone within this role will be professional, approachable and commited to developing themsleves as well as others.  

Key Skills Needed:

Strong delivery skills, long term athlete development, athlete competition preparation, holistic development of athletes, coach mentoring

Holiday Company Coach

Holiday Company Coach

A Holiday Company Coach is someone who wants to spend the summer coaching abroad (e.g., Greece or Turkey) for a tour operator such as Mark Warner, Neilson and Sunsail. Coaches work as part of a small watersports team to provide holiday makers with a great sporting experience which will encourage them to return and continue the sport elsewhere. This role is ideal for someone who is friendly, aprroachable and passionate about the sport who would like to spend a gap year working in the sun.

Key Skills Needed:

Make sessions fun and safe, excellent customer service, professional at all times, excellent boat driving ability.  

How to gain these skills:
  • UKCC Level 2 Water Ski and Wakeboard
  • BWSW Licensed Coach
  • International Certificate of Competence (ICC)
  • Ski Boat Driver Level 3*

Club Coach

Club Coach

A Club Coach is someone who is passionate about helping others achieve their sporting goals. A Club Coach works with skiers/riders at a range of ability levels and is able to develop the fundamental skills required for all disciplines.  A club coach will encourage, prepare and support skiers/riders to enter grassroots level competitions. Somone within this role will be committed to the sport, be well respected within the club and will be a good role model for others.   

Key Skills Needed:

Make sessions fun and safe, motivational skills, able to link coaching sessions, able to develop core skills.

How to gain these skills:
  • UKCC Level 2 Water Ski and Wakeboard or Cable Wakeboard
  • BWSW Licensed Coach

Discipline Specific Coach

Discipline Specific Coach

A Coaches independently within a club but will specalise in one (or more) disciplines. The coach will have attended a workshop specific to thier area. Coaches may specalise in: Racing, Barefoot, Kneeboard, Slalom, Trick, Jump and Wakeskate.

Key Skills Needed:

Inspire and motivate, design problem solving tasks, link coaching sessions, knowledgeable about a specific discipline.

Community Coach

Community Coach

A Community Coach is somone who wants to develop the sport in their local community and offer beginners the chance to try the sport. Community Coaches work alongside other coaches in a club to give newcomers a great first time experience by creating a fun and safe environment that encourages them to come back. Someone within this role will be dedicated to the sport and keen to pass on their knowledge and experience.

Make sessions fun and safe, motivational skills, approachable, good customer service.

Leader

Leader 1

A leader is someone who is interested in the sport and wanting to be more involved by taking thier first steps into coaching. Leaders gain experience through assisting other coaches at the club, helping with group sessions and observing in the boat. Someone within this role will have a passion for the sport and a desire to help others learn new skills.

Key Skills Needed:

Organisation, communication, enthusiasum, be pro-active.
