Another Pending Overall World Record for Joel

18 September 2023

Just two weeks after breaking his own Overall World Waterski record, Joel Poland, has done it again.

The latest record came at the weekend at the Malibu Open at Lymanland in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In the second round Joel scored 2@10.25m in slalom, 11,720 trick points and jumped 69.3 metres.

It was enough to pip his record set at the Florida Cup at Ski Fluid near Orlando on 2nd September.  (See our earlier article in this News section).

Both records are subject to official ratification.

Joel's distance of 69.3m at the Malibu Open was enough to earn him second place on the jump podium behind the USA's Freddy Krueger (71m).  He was also second in tricks behind Martin Kolman of Czechia (11,760 pts).

It was a great competition for records.  The current women's slalom world record holder, Regina Jaquess of the USA, set a new pending world record of 5@10.25m - a bigger score than any of the men managed during the event.

At the same competition, Freddie Winter was second in the men's slalom with 3.5@10.25m in the final while Will Asher, who had led the field with 4@10.25m in both of the preliminary rounds, just missed out on a podium. He finished fourth with 3@10.25m.
