European Medals Galore for GB Barefooters

7 August 2023

The GB Barefoot Squad collected no fewer than nine individual medals and Team silver at the 2023 Europe & Africa Championships last weekend.  They included three golds for one of the country’s rising stars.

The Championships were held at Wallsee in Austria from 2nd to 5th August in cool, damp conditions but the weather did nothing to stop the GB squad of nine footers shining.

The outstanding individual performance came from 16-year-old Henry Sullivan in only his second European Championships. Last year, at his first Europeans, he won bronze in Junior Boys Slalom. This year it was gold in Junior Boys Tricks, Jump (joint first) and Overall with a bonus silver in the slalom.

Rick Moyes went one better than his bronze from 2022 with silver in the Open Men Tricks.

14-year-old Matilda Mulcahy, a new squad member representing GB for the first time, picked up three individual medals.

She won silver in Junior Girls Tricks and bronze in Slalom and Overall.
