It's Time for The Masters
19 May 2025
Five British waterskiers will be competing at The Masters in the USA this coming weekend. The event is held annually each Memorial Day weekend on Robin Lake at Callaway Gardens in Georgia.
There is GB representation in all three waterski events of slalom, jump and tricks.
Spots at the invitational competition are highly sought after and GB has secured three of the eight places in Men’s Slalom – the most of any nation.
The competitors are Will Asher, Rob Hazelwood and Freddie Winter.
Will is making his 21st appearance at The Masters and goes into the event as a five-time champion and last year’s silver medallist.
Rob earned an automatic place at The Masters after winning one of the qualifying tournaments, the Botaski Pro Am in Spain in 2024.
Freddie is a two-time Masters winner who will be competing at only his third professional competition since returning from injury after badly breaking his leg last June.
He was on the podium in May at the Swiss Pro Slalom, finishing third.

In Men’s Jump, Jack Critchley, a previous Masters medallist, is back after missing out in 2024.
He is joined by the Overall world record-holder, Joel Poland, a two-time winner in the event and the defending champion.
Joel will also compete in Men’s Tricks, the event in which he won bronze last year.
