Joel Poland Sets Another Pending World Record
27 April 2026
It's an incredible ninth overall world waterski record for the 27-year-old. It happened at the Ski Fluid Classic in Florida at the weekend.
Breaking the overall world record requires a skier to compete in the three events of tricks, slalom and jump. The combined scores from all three – in a single round of competition - make up the overall score.
This latest record has still to be officially ratified by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation but, assuming it is, it breaks the current record - also Joel's - set at the same site in October 2025.
The individual scores for the new record are:
- Tricks - 12,160 points
- Jump - 71.4 metres
- Slalom - 3 buoys at 10.25 metres

“I’ve been chasing a record like this for years!” Joel said. “Three huge scores in the same round. Feels absolutely insane.”
Even at such a young age, Joel is now regularly referred to as one of the legends of the sport with some commentators calling him the GOAT - the Greatest of All Time.
Kyle Eade, the coach and former pro skier who runs Ski Fluid where many of Joel's records have been set, has written an article for us about Joel's achievements. It's published in the latest edition of the BWSW magazine.
He says that Joel is argualy the only skier in the last 40 years who realistically has a chance to win all three individual events at a major tournament - and that's what makes him different from the rest.
“Right now, his level is untouchable,” Kyle says. “If he remains focused, motivated, uninjured, and continues to win at his current rate, he is on a clear path to becoming the sport’s new GOAT - at least for this era.”

Joel is a two-time World Champion. He was the Men’s Overall World Champion in 2021 and is the reigning World Champion in Men’s Jump, winning the title in Italy in August 2025.
He has trick, slalom and jump scores higher than those he posted to set this latest pending world record so who would bet against him doing it again?
