Joel's Latest World Record Approved

The overall world waterski record set by Joel Poland in April has been officially ratified by the IWWF.

 

it's the 27-year-old's ninth world record and he achieved it at the Ski Fluid Classic in Florida, USA on 27 April.

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation announced on 6 June that Joel's scores had been checked and approved.

The new record is 2,764.88 points and the individual scores Joel achieved were:

  • Tricks - 12,160 points
  • Jump - 71.4 metres
  • Slalom - 3 buoys at 10.25 metres

"Joel is no stranger to setting world records, and he continues to redefine what’s possible in waterskiing," the IWWF said in its announcement.

"Congratulations, Joel, on this incredible achievement!"

As the record was announced, Joel was competing at the LA Night Jam, a professional jump event in Louisiana, where the top scorers compete in a nighttime final.

He won with a leap in the dark of 66.5 metres, having gone 71 metres in the first round in daylight conditions.
