Safeguarding Training

Everyone has a duty of care to children and young people in their clubs whether they are a Club Welfare Officer, coach, volunteer, parent or member. A small amount of awareness about safeguarding and child protection can make a big difference to a child’s life.

BWSW recommend three training courses for safeguarding and protecting children depending on your role within a club or the sport;

  •  NSPCC Child Protection in Sport – online introductory safeguarding course for anyone who has infrequent contact with children in a sports organisation or club. This online course is suitable for volunteers and Cable Operators - Book online now

  • Safeguarding & Protecting Children – a 3 hour attended workshop that meets the learning needs for coaches, Club Welfare Officers and volunteers at clubs - find a local course here for England / Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

  • Multisport Time to Listen Training – an interactive 3 hour workshop specifically for Club Welfare Officers to help them understand their role and be most effective. It gives the opportunity to share experiences and learn from real examples. Contact your local CSP to find out if they have a course running or email the BWSW Safeguarding Lead for more information

Once you have completed any safeguarding or child protection training, please email a copy of your certificate to BWSW HQ so we can update your record.
